Founded in 2023, we are a volunteer-driven, non-profit organization uniting data management professionals, students, and advocates from across Portugal and beyond. As an official chapter of DAMA International, we foster a vibrant community through networking, collaboration, and knowledge sharing across the national and global data landscape.

Meet the board
Sandro Scordo
President, Founding Member
Sandro Scordo is President and Founder of DAMA Portugal-Lisbon and European Chapters Coordinator for DAMA International. With over 20 years of experience across the EMEA region, he advises C-level executives on Data and AI Strategy, Governance, and enterprise data transformation.
He leads the Data Strategy & Governance Centre of Excellence at BI4ALL, where he drives programmes for clients in the Pharmaceutical, Manufacturing, and Energy sectors, spanning data governance frameworks, master data management, analytics, and AI Governance.
A recognised voice in the European data community, Sandro combines deep technical expertise with strategic leadership, helping organisations build data-driven cultures and navigate the evolving landscape of data and AI regulation.
Pedro Tomás
Vice President, Founding Member
Pedro Tomás, Vice President, Director of Partnerships and Founder of DAMA Portugal, is Head of Data at SECIL Group, where he leads the enterprise data and analytics agenda for one of Iberia’s largest industrial groups, now part of the Cementos Molins family.
With over 15 years of experience spanning the industrial, banking, energy, and consulting sectors, Pedro specialises in designing and scaling enterprise data platforms, bridging Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT), and translating data capabilities into measurable commercial outcomes.
His expertise spans data strategy, governance, M&A-driven data integration, and Board-level stakeholder engagement. A graduate of ISEG – Lisbon School of Economics and Management, Pedro combines architectural rigour with a business-led approach to data leadership, shaping Portugal’s data community through DAMA.
Rui Afeiteira
Rui Afeiteira IT Director, Founding Member
Rui Afeiteira, IT Director and Founder of DAMA Portugal-Lisbon, is the CIO at BI4ALL and Adjunct Lecturer at NOVA IMS, brings over 15 years of experience in Analytics and Advanced Analytics.
Passionate about innovation and digital transformation, he leads BI4ALL's Knowledge and Innovation area, specializing in strategic advisory and project management for data-driven organizations. His expertise extends to data strategy, data governance, and the architecture of advanced analytics projects.
As a leader and an educator, Rui Afeiteira is shaping the future of analytics, driving organizations towards embracing a data-centric approach in an increasingly digital world.
Vanessa Araújo​
Events Director, Founding Member
Vanessa Araujo is Event Director and Founder of DAMA Portugal-Lisbon. She is a Principal Program Manager lead specializing in Data and AI Strategy and Architecture at Microsoft. In her role, Vanessa leads initiatives that bridge technical innovation with customer needs, focusing on delivering transformative data and AI solutions for enterprise clients.
Her career at Microsoft includes significant contributions to customer advisory, technical solution architecture, and strategic program management within the Data & AI ecosystem. Widely recognized for her leadership, Vanessa has represented Microsoft at conferences as a speaker and thought leader, particularly in the areas of digital transformation and AI-driven Patterns.
Her dynamic approach combines deep technical expertise with a commitment to customer success, making her a key influencer in Microsoft's Data & AI global strategy
Nuno Pais
Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Nuno Pais is the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of DAMA Portugal–Lisbon, where he is responsible for the chapter’s secretariat functions. He is also the Data Governance Manager at Secil, with over 20 years of experience working with data.
Throughout his career, Nuno has designed and overseen the implementation of enterprise-wide Data Governance operational models, established policies, procedures, and standards to ensure data quality, accuracy, security, and regulatory compliance, and facilitated Data Stewardship.
He has defined Metadata Management strategies and guided best practices for Corporate Data Catalogs across multinational operations. As a Senior Data Architect, Nuno has designed end-to-end data solutions spanning data integration, modelling, warehousing, and analytics platforms, and brings architecture-level experience from banking and capital markets. Nuno combines deep technical expertise with a pragmatic, outcome-driven approach to governance.
OrquÃdea Fonseca
Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
OrquÃdea Fonseca is the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of DAMA Portugal - Lisbon and an international Data & Analytics leader with more than 20 years of experience driving business transformation through data.
Her background spans data governance, analytics, geospatial intelligence, and strategic operating models, with a strong emphasis on change management, business engagement, and adoption.
Combining strategic vision with hands-on execution, she helps organizations translate data initiatives into practical business value while fostering collaboration, awareness, and data-driven culture across global environments.
Pedro Soares
Chief Membership and Partnerships Officer
Pedro Monteiro Soares serves as Chief Membership and Partnerships Officer at DAMA Portugal, where he supports the growth of the Portuguese data management community through strategic partnerships, membership initiatives, and the promotion of DMBOK best practices. His work contributes to the advancement of data governance, data quality, metadata management, and enterprise data management capabilities across the market.
Pedro is a data management and governance professional with experience in enterprise data strategy, modern data platforms, and cloud-based data operations within Vodafone. His expertise spans data governance, analytics enablement, cloud ecosystems, and scalable data architectures that support trusted and business-driven data capabilities.
He holds certifications including DAMA CDMP Associate, Google Cloud Digital Leader, and FinOps Foundation, combining technical expertise with a strong focus on innovation, governance, and business alignment.
Filipa Brum
Non-Executive Director of Communication
Filipa Brum is the Non-Executive Director of Communication at DAMA Portugal–Lisbon, where she leads the chapter’s communication strategy, external positioning, and community engagement initiatives.
With a multidisciplinary background spanning banking, pharmaceuticals, public sector analytics, and data governance, she combines strategic communication expertise with deep knowledge of data, analytics, CRM, and AI-driven transformation. Currently working at Santander as CRM Analytics & Customer Journey Manager, Filipa has led data-driven customer engagement and acquisition initiatives across corporate, enterprise, and premium banking segments. Her previous experience includes roles at Novartis and Banco Montepio in analytics.
An Oxford-trained strategist with expertise in data storytelling and stakeholder engagement, Filipa is passionate about translating complex data topics into clear, accessible narratives that foster collaboration, awareness, and community growth.
